Counseling Services
Counseling at DYSC may include both individual and family counseling. Youth and adult family members can be seen separately or together, depending on the need. Counseling is goal-directed so that progress can be evaluated by the individual, families and counselors on an ongoing basis. Additionally, play therapy services are offered to our younger clients.
Supportive Services
Groups for adolescents and for adults are offered within the agency and community, as needed. Groups vary according to expressed needs and available resources. Groups occur throughout the year on various topics such as parenting of adolescents, parenting of teens, social skills and anger management.
Community Education
The outreach program of DYSC represents the extension of services beyond the confines of the agency toward the community. DYSC represents a vital link in providing the information about the services and programs of the agency to individuals and groups in the community. Invitations to speak to groups are welcomed.
Referrals
When DYSC is not able to provide a needed service or when persons contacting DYSC are seeking information about community services, the staff will either provide information or make referrals to appropriate agencies.
Funding
DYSC is funded by Baltimore County, through the Local Management Board and the State of Maryland. DYSC also receives grant funds from the Baltimore County Office of Community Conservation.
